Over 300 people gathered at Bentdahl Commons for Luther Student Activities Council’s “Grocery Bag Bingo” on Monday evening, August 28. Students enjoyed beautiful summer weather while vying for a variety of prizes including food, school supplies, Luther SWAG, and dorm-room essentials. SAC Director Jenna Mockler-Gjerde said “We had a great turnout and a lot of fun at our third Grocery Bag Bingo. It’s become our annual way to kick-off the Fall semester and let everyone know about SAC and its awesome activities.”

New this year was a collaboration between SAC and Nordic Mart Manager Nori Hadley, who asked her vendor partners to donate items for Grocery Bag Bingo. GillettePepsi and RedBull supplied items like beverages, apparel, and other gear for both participants and winners. “The response from Red Bull and Pepsi was really outstanding,” Nori said. “Coordinating donations with Jenna and the rest of SAC was an easy way to make Bingo even more successful!” Mockler-Gjerde concurred, stating “The added items allowed us to have more winners and a longer event.”

In addition, GillettePepsi delivered a number of lawn games for Luther student use. “They came through with sets of Lawn Pong, Can Jam, and Beanbags for people to borrow and play,” said Hadley. “There are a lot of wonderful green spaces on campus, and Pepsi’s donation means more folks can enjoy them through outdoor contests.” Students can visit the SAC Office (Union 106) for information on how to check out these and other games.
